Dynamics 365 Functional Consultant (Finance and Operations)
On this specialist track, you’ll learn to leverage Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Microsoft Power Platform to anticipate and plan for customer needs.
Role and responsibilities
Microsoft Functional Consultants with a specialty in Finance and Operations have many responsibilities, depending on their organization. These often include:
- Creating products, purchase orders, warehouse and production orders, and planned work orders through Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management
- Using Dynamics 365 Finance to create vendor payment journeys and financial dimensions
- Integrating Power BI with Dynamics 365 Finance apps
- Implementing and managing accounts payable, expense, and credit and collections
- Configuring and managing fixed assets and budgets

Role and responsibilities
Functional Consultants that specialize in Customer Engagement are dedicated to improving their client’s customer experience, and their responsibilities typically include:
- Managing sales opportunities, support cases, and escalating cases to Work Orders
- Creating Model-Drive Application Provision, Portal Webpages, Notification flows, Security Sweep flows, and Power BI reports and dashboards

Dynamics 365 Functional Consultant (Business Central)
Through this specialist track, you’ll master the ability to implement core application set-up processes for both small and medium businesses.
Role and responsibilities
Business Central Functional Consultants have a wide range of responsibilities within an organization, including:
- Creating products, purchase orders, production orders, planned work orders, or warehouse orders through D365’s Supply Chain Management offering
- Creating ad-hoc discount products and product assortments with Dynamics 365 Commerce
- Configuring Sales and Purchasing via inventory management and price configurations, and processing core financial transactions
- Migrating legacy data to Business Central, setting up Cash Management, and Accounts Payable and Receivable

Power Platform Consultant
On this specialist track, you’ll learn how to create and configure apps, automations, and solutions while liaising with users and implementation teams.
Role and responsibilities
The responsibilities of a Power Platform Consultant can vary based on their organization, but usually include some of the following:
- Gathering requirements and implementing efficient Power Platform solutions
- Configuring data models in Dataverse, building model-driven canvas, and portal apps
- Analyzing data through Power BI visualizations and dashboards
- Creating model-driven applications, Portal Webpages, Notification Flows, and Sweep Flows

Application criteria for this program:
To apply for any of the specialist tracks within the Microsoft Cloud Functional Consultant pathway, you’ll need to have a minimum of two years worth of experience in a customer-facing role.
Previous experience working as a Business Analyst or experience working in Supply Chain or Financial Services would be an asset.
Beyond this, you’ll also need to have at least some of the following:
- Experience with stakeholder management and requirements gathering
- Experience with tools and techniques to efficiently analyze data and create accurate management reports
- Experience working with Business Intelligence platforms
