Who is Miraj Abdullah?
After establishing a solid career as an Aerospace/Maritime Engineer and working on some of the most complex engineering projects in the UK, Miraj took a bold step and switched his career to cloud computing.
Why? While working in the defense industry was fascinating, projects there tended to span decades. Miraj wanted to work in an environment that was faster-paced and offered more opportunities for innovation. And even though the cloud is an entirely different sector, he knew he had some key transferable skills: a technical mindset, effective stakeholder management, a personable approach, and good communication skills.
A year on, he’s a 3x certified Cloud Solution Architect and already delivering key projects for a world-leading global professional services network.
This is his story.
With his new coding skills under his belt, Chris was keen to see where a career in development could take him. But after graduating from his coding bootcamp at the University of Utah right as the pandemic began, he found it difficult to find work in the ever-changing landscape of 2020.
Who is Miraj Abdullah?

Working on-site as a Cloud Solution Architect
Once trained, Miraj was deployed to work at one of the world’s leading global professional services companies.
He was able to apply his new knowledge of Microsoft Azure and AWS, further developing his specialties as a Cloud Solution Architect—one of the most sought-after roles in the sector.
Working together, the Revols:
- Created and implemented a viable AWS-based solution for the council: a brand-new, fully cloud-based contact center using Amazon Connect
- Designed an AI-powered chatbot that could answer an array of high-volume queries from the residents 24/7, saving the council significant resources
- Trained the council’s employees, empowering them with the skills needed to use and further refine the cloud solution
The project’s success was recognized in the wider industry, selected as one of the finalists of the prestigious 2023 MCA Awards.

What’s next for Miraj?
Though Miraj started his cross-training journey in Microsoft Azure just over a year ago, he’s been able to leverage his previous experience in engineering and develop a host of multi-cloud specialisms, including Amazon Connect, Amazon Lex, Python, Docker, as well as Microsoft Azure, and AWS Architecture. As a result, he currently holds one of the most senior and sought-after roles in the cloud: Solution Architect.
Day-to-day, he speaks to clients and internal stakeholders to ascertain their requirements and figure out the best cloud solution for them. He also spends a good chunk of time on upskilling in new cloud technologies.
Naturally, his best piece of advice for anyone looking to cross-train into cloud is to keep an open mind and never stop learning!
