At the end of the placement, they can transition permanently into your organization, helping you retain the expertise, context, and knowledge they have built.

That is where Forward Deployed Engineers come in.

FDEs sit between engineering, AI, product, and the customer. They combine strong software engineering foundations with applied AI expertise and the ability to understand business problems, build practical solutions, and deploy them into production.

A specialist Hire, Train, Deploy pathway

Our FDE program follows the same principles as Revolent’s wider Hire, Train, Deploy model, but with a significantly higher technical entry point.

We do not train beginners to become Forward Deployed Engineers. Our FDE Revols are experienced software, data, or technical engineering professionals with a track record of delivering production solutions.

They then complete intensive cross-training designed to build the additional AI, deployment, and customer-facing capabilities needed to operate effectively as an FDE.

Program features include:
  • Experienced engineering talent, typically with five or more years of production delivery experience
  • Small training cohorts of up to 15 engineers
  • 6-8 weeks of intensive cross-training before placement
  • Practical, project-led learning focused on production AI
  • Continued technical development throughout the placement
  • A route to permanent conversion at the end of the program

Work with technical teams and business stakeholders to understand workflows, data, systems, constraints, and the problem that actually needs solving.

Build and ship

Develop production-ready AI solutions, including agents, retrieval systems, integrations, tools, and supporting infrastructure.

Evaluate and harden

Create evaluation frameworks, monitor performance, identify failure modes, and help ensure systems meet security, risk, compliance, and operational requirements.

Close the loop

Feed real-world learning back into engineering and product teams so future deployments become faster, more reliable, and easier to scale.
